WHY DO WE GIVE?
Giving is a privilege. The storehouse spoken of in Malachi 3 is what we consider the local church. By partnering our monies together, God’s work is done more effectively.

Scripture Reference:

2 Corinthians 8:13-15

WHY IS GIVING SO IMPORTANT?
We also recognize that Jesus talked more about giving than the subjects of heaven, hell, or prayer.

Scripture Reference:

Matthew 6:21, 24; Luke 6:38

WHERE DOES FLINT-GROVES GET ITS INCOME?
God provides for Flint-Groves through the tithes and offerings of members and attendees.

DOES FLINT-GROVES GIVE TO MISSIONS?

Yes. We consider every penny spent at Flint-Groves to be mission spending! Flint-Grove’s budget also supports contributions to international and local missions, benevolence and scholarships.

DOES FLINT-GROVES HAVE A BUDGET?
Yes. Flint-Grove’s budget is set every fall for the following year based on the goals and objectives of each ministry area within the church.

DOES FLINT-GROVE’S SEND CONTRIBUTION NOTICES TO ITS TITHERS AND GIVERS?
Yes. Contribution notices are mailed annually at close of the year.

HOW DO I EXCEL IN GIVING?
The apostle Paul spoke to the new churches about giving in his letter to the Corinthians. He instructs the church to set aside a sum of money based on their income and give it cheerfully. He also reminds the church that those who give generously will reap a generous benefit.

Scripture Reference:

1 Corinthians 16:1-2;

2 Corinthians 9:6-7;

2 Corinthians 8:7

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TITHE AND AN OFFERING?
Tithe: “tenth” or 10 percent.

Offering: given above and beyond the tithe

As Christ Followers, we believe that we are to follow God’s command regarding tithing. A tithe is giving the first 10% of your gross income as defined by Malachi 3:10. We believe that we are mere stewards of what God has given us. Therefore, we see tithing as giving back what is God’s to God (and He lets us keep the other 90% to use appropriately). Any amount above 10% is considered an offering to God. This type of giving is over and above and should also be done with cheerfulness.

Leviticus 27:30; Malachi 3:8-10
